The professorships “Big Geospatial Data Management” and “Information Systems” are seeking to fill a research associate position (doctoral candidate) in close collaboration with each other to support research activities around sustainability-aware event data engineering for global logistics, integrating process min-ing, geospatial analytics, IoT data fusion, and real-time prediction of logistics performance and carbon emissions.
The professorship of Information Systems at the TUM Campus Heilbronn, with its focus on Business Process Management (BPM) and Enterprise Architecture (EA), conducts research and teaching at the interface between management and technology. We focus on methods, concepts, and techniques for successfully using information systems and technologies in business processes, developing new business areas, and designing such systems and technologies.
The professorship of Big Geospatial Data Management concentrates on the methodology for the acquisition, or-ganization, compression, analysis, and visualization of georeferenced or geometric data on large scales. We put emphasis on methods of distributed computing, machine learning, image and text analysis, randomized data structures, high-performance computing, and quantum algorithms. Beyond this research, we aim to support com-putational thinking and computational problem-solving across the Earth sciences at a large scale.
In this position, you will contribute to a pioneering research project that aims to establish the first holistic frame-work for Sustainability-aware Event Data Engineering for global logistics. It will (1) enrich ERP process logs with IoT, geospatial, and environmental data to quantify sustainability impacts, (2) generate high-fidelity synthetic sustainability-aware event logs for benchmarking and validation, and (3) build a high-performance analytics plat-form that combines logistics trajectories with real-time traffic, weather, and topography data.
